AI IS CREATING MORE JOBS, SAYS NVIDIA’S CEO HUANG

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is not buying the AI apocalypse narrative, and he is becoming increasingly outspoken about it. Nvidia CEO vehemently opposed the story that AI is a job killing machine and is on the road to mass unemployment in a talk at a Milken Institute event May 4, 2026. 

TechCrunch reports that Huang reminded the audience that AI was an industrial scale job creation machine other than job killer, and he called on Americans to stop being afraid of a technology which he believes represented the single biggest opportunity that the country had had in reindustrializing itself. 

Even the new breed of industrial factories that are propelling the AI industry need workers, as do the other sectors of the AI industry that are now experiencing growth.The primary aspect of his argument rests on a difference which is ordinarily lost in the argument. Just because a particular job has been automated does not mean that the entire job of the individual will be removed. The people who have this misconception do not know that the purpose of the job is not the same thing but that is related to it. 

In software engineering, with code writing, the objective is innovation, problem-solving, and suggesting new requirements. The percentage of AI is huge.

The object is not lost but stretched out. TechCrunch Speaking of which, Huang has also taken on himself to dispel the notion that the demand of code somehow is fixed. He said that the world needs a trillion lines of code to be written to solve problems in medical care, science, manufacturing, and shopping. 

This is supported by data on job listing site Indeed, he said which in fact indicates that the demand of software engineers is increasing despite the introduction of AI-based code generators.He went so far as to front the executives who made the loudest doom predictions. 

Huang said, people making these kind of warnings of AI future are trying to be helpful. But those prophecies are counterproductive. “It would have been literally counterproductive,” he said, “to scare young college graduates out of software engineering when it turns out that US needs more software engineers than ever.”

He did not name names, but he was talking about CEOs who issue dire warnings on AI having a God complex – and that tendency in leaders needs snuffing out before they get lost in the mist of big data and the sci-fi dystopias of AI dominance. Earlier this year, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei estimated that it’s possible for AI to automate up to half of all white collar work. 

It can be of great economic background. Apollo Global Management chief economist Torsten Slok used the Jevons paradox to the AI age, Jevons paradox occurs when increased efficiency in using a resource (technological progress) leads to higher overall consumption rather than lower, as the cost-saving benefits boost demand.  arguing that the adoption of AI is going to create more jobs, not fewer. The market of such work, in fact, expands as the prices of professional work decrease as the work becomes more efficient with the help of AI. In his own estimation, Huang defines that during the past few years, more than half a million jobs have been created by AI, as companies that have embraced AI are growing at a faster rate and, as a result, creating more employment.

The counter-argument is a bit more difficult to refute than Huang makes it sound. According to reputable financial and other academic institutional forecasts, as many as 15% of the jobs in the United States will be eliminated in the near future because of A.I. So, the fellow who’s peddling these chips that are going to bring about this change obviously has every reason to be ebullient. He’s not wrong, but it’s worth keeping in mind when we weigh what he’s telling us.
