The ASUS ZenBook S14 2026 enters a premium Ultrabook market that is already packed with powerful alternatives, yet ASUS still found a way to make this laptop feel lighter, faster, and more refined than before. With a brighter OLED display, improved Intel AI performance, and all-day battery life, the experience feels flagship-level, until the new price tag forces you to think twice.
I would like to start with the amount which is constantly recurring to me. 1,999, six-hundred dollars more. That’s what ASUS is asking for the 2026 ZenBook S14. The 2025 model was $1,399. Equal weight, equal thickness, equal on board 32GB RAM. I find myself returning to it as the improvements are actual, the screen is actually more impressive, the battery is actually bigger, the chip is actually more recent, but that price difference is something you should read at the top, not at the bottom in a spec sheet. And there are some of those improvements which are worth mentioning. Let’s get into it.
ZenBook S14 looks like a ZenBook 14. If it was given to you without the box, you would have more likely guessed the previous year model than this one. Same 1.1cm case, same weight 1.2kg, all-metal. The difference is in the lid, which the 2026 model loses the decorative lines and relocates the brand to a small badge in the center. Cleaner, less corporate. It is Scandinavian White and Antrim Gray. The White is not as bad in real life as it is in the press photos. It has a coziness which is certainly lacking in the pictures.
The Ceraluminum chassis is CNC-machined and it looks like it. Nothing should not bend. It is a slender 0.47 inches and weighs 2.65 pounds and would be able to fit in a bag in a not exactly the same way as with the heavier laptops that are said to be slim.
The ports are decent: Two Thunderbolt 4, one USB-A, HDMI 2.1, headphone jack. Most meetings and offices will permit you to walk in without a dongle. And that is not yet universal in this category; it is worth saying so.
The ZenBook S14 won the 2026 CES Innovation Award (CES, 2026). Do what you like with that – not necessarily significant things but the quality of the build work here is much more indicative of more than a spec-sheet refresh.
The screen was also boosted to a maximum of 500 nits to 1,100 nits (ASUS, 2026). Not a small jump. That is the distinction between one screen whose ills surround a window and the other which rests on its own in the direct overhead light in an office where the sun is shining. I was sitting in a south-facing window the last two weeks and I never had to think twice where I am sitting like in the 2025 model.
This is a display which immediately catches your attention. 14-inch 3K OLED, 120Hz, 1100 nits brightness and sharp text regardless of zoom levels. It does not struggle with you when you spend hours at this screen, typing, editing or otherwise doing anything that makes you stare at some words or pictures.
This has its snare though, it is still glossy. The only (edition of their line of laptops) that has the correct matte finish is their ExpertBook Ultra. They didn’t bring it to the S14. It is not a mistake but a choice. When it is sunny, and the touchscreen panel is placed near a window, the touches and fingerprints become obsolete very soon. It is the most solvable in this laptop and has not been done.
The Core Ultra 9 386H has 16 cores with a base frequency of 2.1GHz and a boost of 4.9GHz, a memory of 32GB LPDDR5X and 1TB PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD (ASUS, 2026). Life is becoming quick and busy with a lot of browsing, video conferencing and simultaneous documents.
The actual upgrade was the cooling. The cooling chamber in an ASUS is noticeably increased by 37% compared to the last model. The palm rest and keyboard can be used without any problems and the bottom is warm.
This is what I would like to be clear about the graphics: ASUS has used the 386H instead of the Core Ultra X platform. It’s the Intel Arc graphics in the B390 configuration you would have in the X-version, which puts graphical performance approximately half the performance of some competing UltraBooks with the X chip. Older and less intense games are okay. Nothing of the current and in need. Gaming you have in your list, anywhere, not your sort. The S14 is not being sold as a gambler, it is not its weakness. But that is something to consider before buying it.
ASUS claims the battery life of this laptop is up to 27 hours. I tested that claim and I didn’t get 27 hours straight. Basically this claim is based on ideal lab conditions but not for everyday use. I left my charger for around 10 hours with full workday use, emails and video call meetings and returned with only 19% battery left.
There is noticeable improvement in battery capacity from 75Wh to 77Wh, with efficient working of Panther Lake chips. It lasted more than 18 hours in PCMark video loop test at a brightness level of 150 nits. When using a real mixed workloads browsing, documents, video calls, 10-13 hours are expected in relation to your brightness settings.
Without taking the charger to work all day is not a wish anymore but a reality. It can be charged in 41 minutes using a 68W USB-C charger and in less than 90 minutes when fully charged. Even a lunch hour or a quick break will give you no worries about battery for the rest of the day.

The laptop comes with built-in AI capabilities running on a 50 TOPS NPU, making it a Copilot+ PC, but that’s not a basic buying reason. Features such as live captions and Recall operate as they should, the feature that is the most truly helpful is noise cancellation on a call, it is quite small but noticeably effective.
The actual benefit of on-device AI is increased efficiency since it does not consume battery as cloud-based tasks. AI upgradation is being used to sell these laptops. This NPU is up to 40% stronger than the Lunar Lake chip in the previous model of S14 (2025) and these are faster and with a less noticeable impact on the CPU.

The ASUS Store and Best Buy have the ZenBook S14 2026 with a starting price of $1599.99 in store and online, which is the lowest priced model of the range and has a top-end model that costs $1999.99.
Is updating a 2022 or 2023 laptop. Work in daytime or near the windows on a daily basis. Travels a lot and would like to leave the charger behind. Use video meetings in a professional manner. The battery and display are the real-deal and you will realize them within the initial 48 hours.
Own the 2025 S14 already. The fundamentals are the same and an additional 600 to lighten and a new chip is not a good idea. Or if you want to game in your application at all, the graphics ceiling is a reality, benchmarked and cannot be patched by software update.

The 2026 ZenBook S14 is ASUS refining the basics of a better cooling system, longer battery, brighter screen and newer chip. Three of those are things that people actually complained about in the 2025 model. It is not a coincidence, that is a conscious re-energization.
It’s not a reinvention and doesn’t need to be. The glossy screen is still an annoying element. The graphics ceiling is a fact. And the price is more reasonable than a 2022-2023 laptop than the S14 of 2025.
At the end of the day, ASUS ZenBook S14 does not try to be everything and that is why it works. ASUS chose their own battles, won the majority and introduced a laptop that is truly difficult to leave behind after usage.
