Google Expands AI Content Detection with SynthID

Google I/O new announcement about Google’s SynthID. An extension to Google’s SynthID that will enhance the AI content detection capabilities of its system was announced at I/O 2026 to enable users to identify images, texts, audio, and video content created using an AI tool. In this update, particular attention was paid to the improvement of SynthID’s ability to make detecting AI content easier and transparent.

Moreover, developers who use AI Studio will now have the chance to add SynthID-related tools to their platforms to detect and/or verify AI content there.

There have been cases of misleading and even falsified information created by using artificial intelligence. To solve this issue, Google came up with a new method, which is offered in the updated version of SynthID.
