Greg Brockman Officially Takes Control of OpenAI’s. OpenAI is once again reorganising its executive ranks as part of its effort to unify ChatGPT and Codex into one core product experience.

OpenAI told staff on Friday that it would reorganize the company as part of an ongoing effort to unify its product offerings, The Tweak Take learned. OpenAI cofounder and president Greg Brockman will now lead the company’s product strategy, in addition to his work on AI infrastructure, OpenAI confirms to WIRED. Brockman was previously assigned to oversee OpenAI products on an interim basis while the CEO of AGI deployment, Fidji Simo, was on medical leave; the change is now official.

Who is Greg Brockman?

Greg Brockman is an American software engineer, entrepreneur, and the co-founder of OpenAI. He currently serves as the company’s President, taking on a direct role in overseeing OpenAI’s product leadership. Before his work in AI, he was the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Stripe.

What changes have been implemented inside OpenAI?

OpenAI has announced a fresh new reorganisation inside the company amid the ongoing trial with Elon Musk over moving away from its original non-profit mission. Notably, Musk had sued OpenAI co-founders Sam Altman and Greg Brockman for misleading him about the company’s intentions and ultimately turning the company into a for-profit entity that generated enormous wealth for everyone except him.

What’s changing with OpenAI restructuring?

Under the new restructuring, Brockman, who serves as OpenAI President, has been given more control at the company and will now lead product strategy along with his ongoing work on AI infrastructure, as per multiple media reports.

As per a Wired report, Brockman was earlier assigned to oversee OpenAI products while the company’s CEO of AGI deployment was on medical leave, but that change is now official.

“We’re consolidating our product efforts to execute with maximum focus toward the agentic future, to win across both consumer and enterprise,” Brockman said in an internal memo quoted by WIRED.

When did this shift begin?

Among other changes, OpenAI’s head of Codes, Thibault Sottiaux, is being asked to lead the company’s core product and platform team. Sottiaux is also overseeing the company’s work on the upcoming ‘super app’ combining Codex, ChatGPT, and Atlas browser on desktop.

Meanwhile, Head of ChatGPT Nick Turley is moving into a new position as the head of OpenAI’s enterprise products. Turley is said to be no longer involved in working on consumer products.

Instead, the consumer product unit will be led by Ashley Alexander, a former Instagram VP who currently leads the company’s work on health products.

OpenAI told WIRED that Simo is still on medical leave and is expected to return. She is also said to have worked directly with Brockman on these organisational changes.
