LG OLED evo AI G6 83″ Review: The Pinnacle of Home Cinema in 2026

OLED screens don’t need a backlight, every pixel lights itself up, or shuts completely off. That’s the whole trick. OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) technology is different from the more conventional LED-LCD panels, which illuminate a single pixel by resorting to a backlight passing through a series of filters. If a pixel has to appear black, it completely turns itself off, giving it an absolute, perfect black. No blooming, halophobic or grayish darkness. When it must shine white or full-flowered crimson, it does accurately. The self-lit architecture is what makes the OLED images look alive in a way no other mainstream technology can match.

LG has been on the cutting edge of OLED TV development for more than 10 years and with the 2026 G6 Series, it’s made its boldest move yet. The G Series comes from LG’s flagship Gallery series, which is designed to not only showcase content but fade away as art when you’re not looking. 

At 83 inches, the G6 stops being a television and starts being an art. The OLED evo panel, driven by LG’s new Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen3, sits just over an inch from your wall and in a dark room, the gap between you and your screen genuinely disappears. As soon as the box came in, I knew it was more than just an upgrade to my TV. This was a declaration.

First Impressions: Unboxing and Setup

The box alone clocks in at nearly 130 lbs, you’ll know before you even open it that this isn’t a casual purchase. LG has included a wall mount in G6, which is a Gallery TV and LG intends to have you hang it so no stand is included. This is a TV that’s built to hang on a wall and the mount hardware is beautifully engineered.

Two people made the installation and about 45 minutes later, the 83″ panel was flush against my home theater wall. And by this I mean genuinely flush, not a milli-metre of gap you’d notice. The Flush Fit Gallery Design is about 1.1″ away from the wall at its most recessed end and at a distance across the room is really a framed canvas. Over the years I’ve seen dozens of TVs, and none have made such a visual impact, before I even turned it on.

The WebOS 26 setup was seamless and easy. LG’s AI Concierge walked me through initial calibration and in no time at all I was signed into my streaming accounts. AI Magic Remote MR26 is a sleek and lightweight wand that is responsive and intuitive.

Picture Quality: Where the G6 Leaves Everything Else Behind

Hyper Radiant Color Technology

You can expect a bunch of new technologies, but no one stands like LG’s new Hyper Radiant Color Technology and this is something that truly becomes apparent after extended testing. It combines Brightness Booster Ultra with Perfect Black and Perfect Color, three technologies that seem almost contradictory. How can you have both perfect black and extreme brightness? The OLED magic is here. 

The panel is made up of 8.3 million self-lit pixels which can be independently switched on and off. Each pixel can be turned off or on at the same time, producing an absolute black or a maximum brightness at any point on the screen without any light spillover between the area of absolute black and the maximum brightness.

LG claims the G6 is up to 3.9x brighter than a standard OLED screen and honestly, those numbers held up in my tests. I took the HDR files in a dark room and on a bright afternoon. In both cases, the brightness performance was outstanding, historically, a weak point of OLEDs. The G6’s Brightness Booster Ultra greatly overcomes the washed out appearance in sunlight that some previous OLED generations experienced.

Perfect Black and Contrast

OLED blacks are famous and they really pack a wallop on an 83 inch canvas. I put up a Dune part 2 and the gap between the G6 and every LCD I’ve tested lately was obvious, the difference was profound. Black is black. In space shots, stars are depicted as tiny points of light against a dark, limitless background, not as grey dots against a background of charcoal. UL Solutions certifies Perfect Black at 0.24 nits in ambient lighting of up to 500 lux. Perfect Color has color consistency of more than 99% in the same ambient lighting conditions. They’re not lab numbers that disappear in your living room, they’ll hold up at every ambient light level I tried.

Color Accuracy and Upscaling

It uses Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen3 to power up real-time upscaling with Alpha 11 AI Super Upscaling 4K. I ran native 4K, 1080p streams and older 720p content through the G6 and the quality is truly amazing. The analysis and reconstruction of content with lower resolution is accurate, textures and facial features look natural, not artificially sharp. 

Perfect Color technology ensures that content creators would be happy with the coverage in terms of color. One of the joys watching nature documentaries was the Dolby Vision treatment, which gives coral reefs looked like coral reefs, not a neon filter slapped over a video.

Design: Gallery Art for Your Living Room

The 83 inch Flush Fit Gallery Design is an architectural category. The panel is barely over an inch thick and the bezel almost isn’t there. In Gallery+ mode, powered off means nothing. It’s still displaying and showing curated art or photos, it looks like a framed canvas. If the living room is designed properly, the G6 will not overwhelm your living space but become a part of it.

This TV does not include a stand (must be purchased separately). Wall mounting installation is intended and ideal for the majority of G6 buyers. LG ships the flush wall mount with the TV and a free pro mounting was offered by Angi at the time of purchase, which is a very nice touch for a $6,499.99 television.

Audio: Impressive for a Slim Panel

The G6 features a 4.2 channel speaker system with AI Sound Pro and a Virtual 11.1.2 up-mix via the Alpha 11 processor. The output is truly remarkable for such a thin panel, more bass actually than one can expect, and impressive spatial width despite the panel’s actual thickness. Dolby Atmos content is more dimensional than on traditional TV speakers.

That said, at this price you’re going to want a proper soundbar alongside it. The obvious pairing is the LG S95AR (9.1.5ch Dolby Atmos) soundbar, which comes with $200 off when buying with the TV, and the Wow Orchestra feature seamlessly combines TV and soundbar output to create a sound field that’s perfect.

Gaming Performance

Before testing the G6, I assumed an 83 inch gallery TV would be an afterthought for gaming. I was wrong. It’s a big gaming show, and is likely the top large format gaming panel available right now. The response time of sub-0.1ms coupled with the native 165Hz VRR refresh rate (full NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD Free-Sync Premium support) makes for a “silky” gaming experience. When it comes to a screen this big, there’s no room for any compromise: clarity is the most important thing and the G6 gives it to you.

Note: 165Hz VRR is only available if your PC graphics card supports it. The G6 is extraordinary and capable of 120Hz of console gaming, still great but PC gamers with high-end hardware will not want to miss this.

Technical Specifications

Smart TV Experience: webOS 26 and AI Integration

LG’s most ambitious latest smart platform to date is webOS 26 which is powered by Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot. In fact, the voice control system is context-aware. I went to the TV to ask it to “show me a tense thriller from the past two years” and it scanned my connected services for results, matching them to my question. The AI Concierge becomes noticeably more intelligent making suggestions that are truly helpful and not just trending keywords.

I spent an evening just browsing LG’s built-in content library of 400+ free channels and over 10,000 on-demand titles without thinking about streaming subscription. This is really helpful for those who want to replace an old cable service. For sports enthusiasts, Dynamic Sports mode will keep them updated on the game scores and highlights in real-time. Home Hub connected to my Apple Home setup in the first attempt, no manual setup. The only feature I was not expecting to appreciate is LG Shield, real-time malware scanning running in the background quietly. A detail that should be a standard not an option.

The LG OLED evo AI G6 83 inch is one of the best this size TVs of 2026 after prolonged usage. Hyper Radiant Color Technology, the Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen3, 165Hz VRR gaming performance, webOS 26 AI integration and the genuinely stunning Gallery design are what can’t be matched at this size by any other tech on the market.

The price tag of $6,499.99 is pretty steep, and G6 does not apologize. However, when you’re sitting in front of 83 inches of flawless OLED, Dolby Vision HDR rendering in absolute contrast, all 83 inches doing exactly what they were instructed to do, the price becomes a lot easier to accept and a lot harder to fake. The LG OLED G6 83″ is for those whose top priority is image quality.
