Midjourney, known for its AI image generator, formally expands into healthcare with Midjourney Medical. In its press release dated June 17, 2026, the company announced the creation of a new division of Midjourney called Midjourney Medical along with a new product, Midjourney Scanner. The product, according to the company, allows generating a 3D map of a human body using ultrasound technology in approximately 60 seconds.
The information about the technology was followed on June 20, 2026, by a blog post of Midjourney Medical that provided further technical details on the technology and the vision of its usage.
On June 17, Midjourney introduced a new division, Midjourney Medical as well as Midjourney Scanner. The latter is a full body imaging system that uses ultrasound sensors arranged in a ring and a water based imaging method to produce a 3D image of the patient’s body.
As claimed by the company, the Midjourney Scanner collects huge volumes of ultrasound data in an efficient way. While current imaging systems concentrate on imaging of separate body segments, the Midjourney Scanner is aimed at gathering data from multiple segments of the body.
The launch of the division marks the first significant expansion of Midjourney from the field of generative AI and digital creativity tools.

Midjourney calls its technology the “Ultrasonic CT” that combines features of ultrasound and CT scanning.
Although the news received significant attention, medical experts say that the technology is still in its infancy stage. The Midjourney Scanner is not yet viewed as a replacement of MRI or CT scanners.
Medical experts also stress that regulatory approval, clinical validation, accuracy tests and long term safety assessment are crucial before the technology can be implemented in healthcare facilities.
Now Midjourney presents its scanner as a part of a vision of future imaging systems in healthcare.
According to the plans of Midjourney, there will be special centers where people could visit in order to undergo quick scanning sessions aimed at early detection of possible diseases. According to the company, increased accessibility of imaging information will help improve preventive medicine and better understand changes that occur in patients’ bodies.
