Motorola Razr 2026 Lineup: Flip Phones Just Got Serious

A flip phone done right has a feel nothing else matches, the snap of the hinge, a big screen that folds down into a square format that fits into a wallet-size pocket. That’s something that Motorola’s been working on for a number of years and the company’s seeking to reinforce what works with the Razr 2026 lineup, while preparing the groundwork for something more intriguing in the future.

Motorola announced the Razr 2026 new lineup on May 14, 2026, introducing the Razr, Razr Plus and the Razr Ultra, three flip phones at three very different prices, positioning itself as a direct challenge to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7. The pre-orders were activated on the same day on Best Buy, Amazon and Motorola.com and will be broadly available on May 21 in stores. So, at $799.99, $1099.99 and $1,499.99, is the 2026 Razr lineup really worth the upgrade?

The 2026 Razr Lineup at a Glance

Motorola is launching three flip models this year: the base Razr ($799.99), the Razr+ ($1,099.99) and the Razr Ultra ($1,499.99). The three come with preinstalled Android 16 and are universally unlocked. Yes, everything costs more this year, $100 more on the Razr and Razr+ and $200 more on the Ultra. This will be the first hurdle that buyers will have to overcome. 

Motorola Razr 2026: The everyday flip

The Razr 2026 is the gadget to keep an eye on if you’re new to flip phones or you simply can’t afford to spend more than a grand. It had the most significant makeover of the entire series this year.

The biggest improvement is cameras. Last year’s base Razr had a genuinely bad ultrawide, 13MP in 2025 was hard to defend. Motorola finally fixed that. It’s a real and tangible upgrade which can make a difference when you’re shooting in the daylight, a concert or that sudden trip you hadn’t planned earlier. 

Motorola also upgraded the primary screen to the 120Hz, which is achieved for the first time in 2 generations, and the battery is up to 4,800mAh with 30W TurboPower charging. Motorola claims 15 minutes to a full day, we’ll test that. Under the hood it’s a MediaTek Dimensity 7450X, which should be sufficient to perform everyday activities. 

The outer display is still 3.6″, which is smaller than the Plus and Ultra, but it still works well for quick glance and notifications. Motorola’s latest lineup has Hematite, Violet Ice, Sporting Green and Bright White colors.

It may not be the cheapest phone you’ll find for a mid range chip-set but with the upgraded camera system and improved battery life make it Motorola’s strongest offering yet in this price segment.

Motorola Razr+ 2026: The middle child

The Razr+ 2026 stands out in Motorola’s new foldable lineup precisely because it sits between affordability and premium features and refuses to be extreme.

The Razr (2026) is positioned as the affordable option while The Razr Ultra (2026) is the ultimate flagship luxury. Sitting between them is the Razr+ 2026 not in a bad way but as the middle child that quietly makes a compelling argument for many buyers without asking for the spotlight.

At $1099.99, it’s $100 more than last year’s model most similar to previous models in other respects. Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, 4,500mAh battery and 4.0-inch external display, 6.9-inch Extreme AMOLED inner screen and Dolby Vision. No change. It is available in only PANTONE Mountain View color.

So why should you consider it? Because the external display, 4.0″ at 165Hz and 3,000 nits of brightness, is quite remarkable for notifications, a quick response and even for using apps without having to open the phone. Secondly, the 45W TurboPower wired charging and 15W wireless charging take care of you. Thirdly, it comes with Android 16, which brings in the new AI camera tools (Group Shot, Signature Style, Frame Match), Moto AI, and Google Gemini AI inbuilt.

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026: The most powerful flip

Motorola calls this “the most powerful Razr ever.” Hard to argue. It’s not wrong. Except for the fact that this is being sold for an eye-watering $1,499.99.

Standout improvement this year is the new 50 MP LOFIC primary camera sensor. LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) is an additional capacitor placed alongside each pixel to collect overflow charge from bright light.

The Razr Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite (the same processor as 2025, Motorola decided against the newer 8 Elite Gen 5), 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. 

The 7.0-inch extreme vibrant AMOLED inner display is a wow feature: 165Hz, 5,000 nits peak brightness, 2992 x 1224 resolution and Pantone Validated 10-bit colors. The outer display on the 4.0″ has the same 165Hz / 3,000 nit spec as the Razr+ as well.

Battery is 68W TurboPower wired 5,000mAh, Motorola says it’s the largest battery powering any flip phone now has and if it’s true, then the 68W TurboPower is charging the battery to give an 8-minute charge for a full day of usage. That’s a big claim and one that we will be observing in the field. There’s also wireless charging set at 15W.

Its design remains identical as the 2025 Ultra in size and weight (199g), but the new Orient Blue Alcantara texture and Pantone Cocoa natural wood veneer finish is indeed a different choice. For added durability, the Ultra is fitted with Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 on the cover display, while it comes with IP48 water and dust resistance. Software support provides at least three significant Android updates, and four years of security patches.

The price jump of $200 from last year is the sticking point. If you already have last year’s version, then the upgrade may not be worth the price. Yet, with that LOFIC camera and 68W charging, it’s difficult to see a direct rival with this flagship flip mobile at any price point at this time.

So, Which One Should You Get?

• New-bee and budget conscious: Go with the base Razr. It’s only the camera upgrade that makes it worth going up a level from last year and $799 is the bottom of this line.
• A proper day-to-day option for a great outer screen: If you’re looking for the same display size on the outer screen but prefer the Snapdragon power for the everyday user, the Razr+ is a good bet.
• Want the best flip phone? The Razr Ultra’s LOFIC camera, 68W charging and 5,000 nits display are truly amazing. The asking price of $1,499.99 is high but it’s the only one like this in this size.

The Bottom Line:

This is Motorola’s best bid to make flip phones cool again, aside from the novelty. While the price increases are maddening in all models, they all offer at least one new feature. The base Razr receives the most significant upgrade, brings 50MP camera and Military-grade durability at competitive price, the Razr+ redefines the daily-use experience with smarter camera and 68W fast charging and the Ultra adds a whole new level of camera technology and bigger cover display to the flip space.
